Give up alcohol
Alcohol is always in the avoided food list because it’s a toxin and it inhibits proper absorption of nutrients. Avoid drinking beer, wine, or champagne as well as any form of liquor. Take note that some over-the-counter pain medications such as cough syrup also contain alcohol.
Limit high-sodium foods
Your liver cannot process completely sodium when it is damaged. Besides, high sodium intake can increase your blood pressure, which can contribute to fatty liver disease. Canned foods, including soups, meats or vegetables, are high in salt and sugar, which cause abdominal swelling and fluid retention. Read the nutrition label and reduce your intake of high-salt processed foods such as meat, bacon, and sausages. Talk to your doctor about medications that can help keep your blood pressure under control.
